“Improving Your Instructional Skills: Practical Approaches to Improve Your Classroom Experience” by Amanda Adams, Licensed Instructor, CREI, CREI Trainer

The goal of the Instructor Development Workshop presented by AREEA is to help current, new and future instructors understand the challenges of teaching adult learners and to present an engaging and effective course. We are looking forward to an active and exciting course packed with information that you can immediately use in your pre-license, post-license and CE courses.

The course will cover the following topics:

• Characteristics of effective and successful instructors;
• GAPE, the Generally Accepted Principles of Education as adopted by REEA;
• Understanding the adult learner and their learning styles of adults;
• Strategies for dealing with difficult students;
• Ways to give your current course and materials a facelift;
• Unconventional presentation strategies to “shake up” your course;
• Inexpensive ways to engage learners

This will not be your typical workshop! Throughout the day, attendees will participate in many “hands on” individual and group activities and are encouraged to bring their laptops and tablets to facilitate the learning process. (Computers are not required, just highly encouraged!) Activities include large group discussions, small group tasks, on-line polls and on-line games. All attendees will receive a full set of handouts containing the material covered as well as access to the PowerPoint presentation.

The cost of the course is $129.
